Wide, expansive, almost as if drawn in a perfect circle, and in the middle turquoise water. The beach stretches from a green hill to the opposite also green end and is indeed snow-white. Straw umbrellas and bamboo deckchairs almost empty, small bamboo restaurants and surf spots also without customers. A handful of visitors are in the water, far away at the entrance to the bay, by the beach it would be hard to stay on a board.
Local sand-colored dogs are wandering along the beach, they probably came with these ladies. Straw conical traditional hats or sarongs tied in a bundle on the head. At hand shell necklaces and beads stretched on a bamboo board, and on the other pineapples and mangosteens because it is the season. They walk from one green end to the other, followed by a mysterious gentleman. It’s something stronger than pineapples, dried mushrooms rolled in his hand, they say about them “ticket to the moon, never try newer know”.
Time passes slowly and lazily, the sound of waves is hypnotizing. Another boats take another surfer to this distant spot and bring back those who have had enough for today. Some jump out and others climb on board the boat. The captain of this colorful ship throws the boards into the water and packs the next ones. On their faces positive tiredness and smiles, and so they pass these nice ladies wandering with assortment, and dogs bored with this climate follow them.
Tanjung aan is one of the most beautiful beaches on Lombok, and even in this part of the world. It is large, wide, with snow-white soft sand, the water looks as if someone poured a little milk into the light green. The atmosphere is great, straw umbrellas and no hotels, only small bamboo pubs. Lots of young smiling people, pretty colorful boats sailing every few quarters of an hour to surf spots right at the exit from the bay. It is large, at least a kilometer in diameter, and has a beautiful hill at the end, green, covered with grass, with a viewpoint easily accessible from the beach, similar to the one on the opposite side of the bay. Behind it is another small wild beach but open to the ocean with big waves.
A surprisingly wide expressway with a nice green belt in the middle does not fit here at all, it leads from Kuta among green hills. But it is convenient, you can move in a few minutes from a highly developed tourist town or pop out for some good, inexpensive food. The road infrastructure definitely exceeds the current needs of this place, we can assume that this will change soon and large resorts and beautiful hotels will appear in place of these small charming pubs. It is worth coming here before this happens and feeling the backpacker-surfer atmosphere of this place.
